The Harbor School Parents Association
A strong involved parent community is a great asset to The Harbor School. The Harbor School Parents Association (PA) provides a wonderful way for parents to connect with other Harbor parents and to make the children's experience at Harbor even more fulfilling and meaningful. The PA sponsors events and activities throughout the year intended to strengthen the Harbor community and raise funds for the School. In addition, the PA supports the teachers and administration of the School by coordinating activities of Room Parents, providing Teacher Appreciation lunches and presents, and helping new parents learn about the School through our New Parent Liaisons.
All parents or legal guardians of Harbor students are members of the Parents Association. The Parents Association Executive Committee, in concert with the administration of the School, and parent volunteers oversee a variety of activities and events throughout the year. The Parents Association is a very active dynamic group supportive of the School and it welcomes all volunteers.
There are many opportunities and ways for parents to volunteer to support the PA and the School. Some of the opportunities include:
- Chairing a PA event or serving on an event committee
- Serving as a Room Parent
- Serving Hot Lunch (JK-2)
- Hosting a potluck dinner
In addition, there are many ways in which parents may volunteer or participate in the classroom, including: serving as a field trip chaperone, guest reader/special snack, and sharing expertise on topics of study. Those opportunities are provided by the classroom teacher.
